FILMOGRAPHY

I have recently received my Master's degree in Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester. I have been lucky enough to work with some great partners on my first projects and have since begun making my own short ethnographic films. My most recent projects took place in the Tibetan Plateau, China where I studied modernism amongst the Tibetan Nomads. I look forward to making more projects in my local community, Manchester, UK, in the near future.

MOVING INTO MODERNISM

A journey through the Tibetan Plateau in the grasslands just outside of Langmusi. In complete observational style this film explores the daily routines of Tibetan nomads as they move into modernism. The use of modern equipment alongside traditional lifestyles shows the ways in which nomadism attempts to hold on to eight thousand year old ways of living, as they transition into a Chinese city. Tibetan pastoralism and the yak will soon cease to exist entirely. This film strongly juxtaposes it's counterpart film Moving into Modernism: Scarf Workshop, which shows a sustainable solution to an already resettled ex-nomadic community.

HITCH

"What began as an unplanned journey, to unknown destination, ended in a tale of friendship".
This project began as a an attempt to hitchhike through Europe as two females for ethnographic research. Starting in Manchester, UK with no destination in mind, my partner and I ended in Krakov, Poland. Although research partners before, the film took a reflexive turn as the experience blossomed into a real friendship through the trust one must give to another while enduring the
difficulties, excitement, and fear, required by this type of travel.

MOVING INTO MODERNISM: NORLHA

As the ex-nomads of the Tibetan Plateau move into the 'New Villages', this workshop provides a unique and sustainable way of developing the area. By providing the Tibetan with income, Tibetan holidays, happy work environment, and community engagement activities it mitigates some of the issues caused by such village living conditions.

"Girl Gang Manchester is a collective of female artists, creatives, thinkers and do-ers who run an award winning event series, creating a community of people of all genders promoting creativity, collaboration, confidence and positivity, to help inspire and support women to succeed in life work and society." My film collective, Everyday People Films, partnered with them to capture the fun, excitement, and empowerment of women during their live screening of Bridesmaids. And this is how fun it was for us all!
